About Karama
Al Karama is one of Dubai's older neighbourhoods and is widely regarded as a residential development, but it also offers numerous commercial developments. The name of the region is derived from the Arabic word karama, which means "dignity." Al Karama is situated in a prime location, with Zaa'beel Street serving as the primary thoroughfare of the central area and leading to an abundance of commercial properties. It is one of the most accessible locations in the entire city. Al Karama, part of Bur Dubai and adjacent to Dubai Creek, has a distinct atmosphere and is home to numerous low-rise residential buildings. Al Karama is not home to enormous skyscrapers, contrary to what most visitors believe about Dubai. It is one of the most densely populated areas in Dubai, despite occupying only two kilometres and being constructed on a strict grid. Numerous consulates, government structures, and the renowned Zabeel Park separate Al Karama from the Sheikh Zayed Road that leads to the Trade Centre. The renovated Burjuman Mall, one of the earliest malls in the emirate, is also located on the outskirts of the community.
